The Staples Area Men’s Chorus is searching for a new Choral and Artistic Director for the 2016-17 season and beyond. This position will require the successful applicant to; select the performance music, develop and direct rehearsals at least one evening per week from September through mid-May, act as advisor to the executive board, work in collaboration with the local school to establish a shared space to practice and perform, offer creative ideas on how we can grow as a performance group, as well as work closely with our committees in developing programs and advertising ideas for the upcoming concert season.
The season schedule for this 40 voice male chorus involves a Real Men Sing in October, a Community Holiday Concert in December, a DCINY performance of “Testament of Freedom” in New York City’s Carnegie Hall in February, a local performance of our Distinguished Concert music in March, hosting the ACDA Big Sing in April, and a grand finale concert in May. Usually the season will also involve performing at least one other time for a local nursing home and may also involve additional events that come up with short notice. The general management of this chorus is done by an executive board and all of this is done with the assistance of a very incredible accompanist who has been with the chorus for several years.
Anyone interested in a very rewarding experience working with this fun group of guys should immediately send questions about this position or their letter of interest along with a brief resume by August 15, 2016, via email to:

Sandy Paskewitz was born and spent her first 18 years in Truman, MN and started playing piano at age 5. She graduated from high school there in 1978, after accompanying the choir and playing clarinet in the band. She studied music at the University of Minnesota for 2 years, and eventually became a lab technician while attending the Medical Institute of Minnesota. She married Bruce Paskewitz in 1982 and moved to a dairy farm near Staples, MN. They have 3 children, along with many other four legged children who demand a lot of attention. She has loved being a ” mom” to lots of students and calves over the years! Sandy has worked for the Staples High School music department for 18 years, accompanying the high school and middle school choirs, and has played for almost 500 student contest solos. She also has worked as accompanist for the Staples Women’s Chorus and the Colla Voce young girls choir. When she is not busy taking care of calves or playing the piano, she is active in her church, and helps with many of the 4-H activities that her kids are involved in.
